The last few days have been hectic and we haven’t been able to publish anything and the news has been piling up!
Last week Ali was giving a workshop on Anatolian music for teachers of the Generalitat Valenciana. 12 hours spread over three days, which gave us enough time to learn 8 pieces and to delve into the social, geographical and cultural context of this music.
And on Wednesday 5th Ali’s first concert with his group in Spain took place: Festival Polirítmia. It was held in the town hall square in Valencia, with the collaboration of the Valencian multi-instrumentalist Eduard Navarro as guest artist, who provided the timbre of the dolçaina, which is quite similar to the zurna. It was a pleasure and we all hope to repeat the collaboration soon! In the next post we will talk about the next stop this summer: the iconic German festival Rudolstadt.

Perhaps it was the joy of seeing the square completely full, but there was no denying that that night Ali’s eyes shone like lanterns in the dark.
